The Revolutionists, by Lauren Gunderson

May 4 - May 20, 2018

Regional Premiere May 4 through May 20, 2018

Tennessee Women's Theater Project presents the regional premiere of "The Revolutionists." Lauren Gunderson's seriously funny comedic quartet introduces four badass women, trying to navigate the cauldron of political affairs - in the shadow of the guillotine -  at the height of the French Reign of Terror. Together they form an unlikely alliance to fight for liberté, égalité - et sororité (liberty, equality - and sisterhood!).

“ . . . in the capable hands of Tennessee Women’s Theater Project, this ‘revolutionary dream fugue’ comes to life in marvelous fashion. Fresh, funny and surprisingly uplifting, it also offers a great evening of theater.”
- Amy Stumpfl, The Tennessean

Our cast featured Corinne Bupp as Charlotte Corday, soon to be convicted as the murderer of Jean Paul Marat, Corrie Maxwell as Olympe de Gouges, a playwright battling writer's block, Aleta Myles as Marianne Angelle, a free black woman fighting her own revolution in the French colony of Ste. Domingue, and Jennifer Richmond as Marie Antoinette - yes, THAT one. WATCH A VIDEO PREVIEW
