Announcing our 2011-2012 season
Mark your calendar now - Tennessee Women's Theater Project presents another season of firsts: two regional premiere, the world premiere reading and tour of our first commissioned play, and the return of our groundbreaking Women's Work festival, bigger and better than ever. Here's the rundown:
Trying by Joanna McClelland Glass Opens September 30, 2011
Regional premiere! It’s November, 1967, and a young woman has just come to work as a secretary for Judge Francis Biddle, Attorney General to Franklin Roosevelt, and the former Chief Judge of the American Military Tribunal at Nuremberg. Now eighty-one and in failing health, Judge Biddle is a Main Line Philadelphia aristocrat. Sarah Schorr, the latest in a series of assistants, is a plain-spoken twenty-five year old from the Canadian prairie. This autobiographical play tells the charming, bittersweet story of an unlikely pair “trying” to understand each other in what they both realize is the final year of his life.
“...a total delight!”

Desperate and alone, she watches past and present collide as her room is invaded by a fortune teller, her doctor, her dead grandparents, her ex and her mother – even a vision of her inner child. Can she find a future beyond the darkness, a life worth getting out of bed to explore?
